The Excelsior Springs School District has an Elementary Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Special Education position for the 2023-2024 school year. 

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To teach and develop effective programming for Elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) using research-based practices to increase academic, communication, motor, and social skills.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Develop and implement programming for students with ASD

• Maintain programming notebooks

• Develop and implement IEPs

• Collect data and use data to drive instructional practices

• Implement assistive technology and communication devices effectively

• Utilize visual supports and schedules

• Engage students in meaningful instructional activities using research-based best practices

• Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans

• Work cooperatively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to implement programming

• Attend professional development on effective instructional practices for students with ASD and implement skills effectively within the classroom setting

• Supervise Paraprofessionals in the ASD classroom
